JV: Township grabs early lead and doesn’t look back against Cedar Crest 8-2

The JV Streaks were looking avenge two losses to the Cedar Crest JV team last season at home on Wednesday afternoon. Township's offense struck first in the game and put up 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Sam Emge, Evan Clark, Luke Wenger, and Drew Sassaman all picked up RBIs in the first inning for driving runs home for Township.

Connor Vucovich got the start for the JV Blue Streaks in this one and lasted 5 innings while allowing only 1 run on 2 hits and striking out 5 Cedar Crest batters. Ryan Jones and Clark combined to pitch the final two innings for Township and only allowed one more Cedar Crest runner to cross home plate. MT picked up an additional run in the 3rd inning and 2 more in the 5th inning to extend their lead. Josh Emge also picked up an RBI on the day and added a triple to his season totals. Colin Fitzgerald and Clark both added two hits to the Blue Streaks' totals for the game.

Township ended up winning this matchup 8-2 and now holds a 4-2 record on the season.

Next Game: The JV Streaks will play on the turf at Ephrata on Friday afternoon at 4:00pm. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students at the field. Stay late to see the varsity team face Ephrata's varsity squad at 7:00pm.
