Streaks’ high-scoring offense returns in rout of Lebanon, 17-4

Two days after winning at Warwick with only 2 runs on the board, the Blue Streaks’ offense came out firing against the Lebanon Cedars at Westfield Insurance Park on Wednesday afternoon. Putting up double-digit runs for the 4th time this season, Township’s offense belted 14 hits and took advantage of a handful of walks and a pair of fielding errors from Lebanon to close this game out in only 5 innings.

Township starter Dylan King (4 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 8 K) opened the game by loading the bases on walks, but bounced back and held the Cedars scoreless in three of his four innings on the mound. As they have done multiple times this season, the Blue Streaks jumped on the board first with 8 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Five walks and hits from Ryan Flury, Fisher Druck, and Kyle Musser contributed to the offensive outburst. Additionally, Evan Clark picked up an RBI on a SAC fly earlier in the inning.

Lebanon brought three runners around the bases in the 2nd inning to cut Township’s early lead to 8-3, but the Streaks weren’t done pouring it on quite yet. A Clark walk, Ryan Jones double, King single, and Flury single made it 10-3 MT before an out was recorded in the 2nd. Druck collected his second hit of the game to score courtesy runner Ben Shenosky and make it 11-3 through 2. King settled down in the 3rd and 4th innings only facing 4 batters in each before he reached his pitch count limit for the day.

If it seemed like 11 runs was enough for the Blue Streaks… it wasn’t. Loading the bases in the 3rd on singles from Colin Fitzgerald, Clark, and Jones, Township’s lead ballooned to 14-3 after a bases-clearing double from King. A Flury double to the center field fence made it 15-3 after 3. Township would add an additional two runs in the bottom of the 4th before this one was all said and done.

JT Weaver entered for the Blue Streaks to pitch the top of the 5th. The Cedars snagged a 4th run before being retired on the day. Notably, King saved an additional run from scoring thanks to a laser throw from left field to Flury at the plate for an out.

With the 17-4 victory, Manheim Township stays undefeated on the season (8-0) and will prepare for their rescheduled match against visiting Central York on Saturday at noon.
