Jones, Shenosky combine for 6-inning shutout victory over Solanco, 10-0
Capping off a four-game week with a home match against the Solanco Golden Mules, the Blue Streaks were eager to pick up their 13th win in a row to start the season. Both players and fans alike were elated for much warmer weather this afternoon compared to the chilly temperatures felt around the area on Wednesday.

Ryan Jones (4 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 6 K), making his first start on the hill this week, came out firing retiring the first three Solanco batters on only 12 pitches. Township took advantage of a 1st inning fielding error on Drew Sassaman’s first AB and had runners on the corners after a Colin Fitzgerald single to left. Evan Clark collected 2 RBIs on a double before crossing home plate on an error after a Jones single. Jones would score on a Dylan King single to left to make it 4-0 MT after 1.
Three singles for the Golden Mules in the top of the 2nd loaded the bases on Jones, but a huge strikeout and flyout kept the Mules off the board. Another RBI-hit from Clark scored Fitzgerald who singled earlier in the bottom of the 2nd and put an extra run on the board for Township, 5-0.

A speedy 3rd and 4th innings for both squads took us to the top of the 5th where Jones was relieved on the mound by usual-starter Ben Shenosky. Shenosky gave up only one hit in his two innings of relief while accruing 3 strikeouts.
After 2 outs on 2 pitches to start the bottom of the 5th, a single from Ryan Flury started up the Township offense again. A follow-up single from JT Weaver and HBP to Michael Heckman loaded the bases for the Blue Streaks. A Kyle Musser single off the glove of the shortstop scored two runners before Sassaman put another ball into the left half of the infield and made it 8-0. Fitzgerald nabbed his 3rd hit on the afternoon to plate Musser and score Township’s 4th and final run of the 2-out rally.
In the 6th, Jones doubled to right field before scoring the game-winning run on a Heckman double to left-center. The Blue Streaks secured the 10-0 victory in only 6 innings and will use the weekend to prepare for their away game at Ephrata on Monday evening (7:00).
