Facing their neighbors to the North for the first time in 2025, the Manheim Township Blue Streaks hosted the Warwick Warriors at home on Wednesday afternoon amidst chilly and gusty conditions. Township swept the Warriors last season in their three matchups: 15-5, 8-6, and 6-5.

For the second straight game, the Blue Streaks got a scoreless first inning from their starting pitcher. Braden Leed (5 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 9 K) got the nod for the second time this year after being chased early in his first outing in last week’s season opener against Hershey. Leed opened the game with a hit batter, but settled down quickly to retire three of the next four batters to give his squad a chance to take an early lead on the Warriors.

Leed helped his own cause with a leadoff single on the second pitch he saw in the bottom of the 1st. A Jacob Carrasco hit by pitch and Angelo Billiard single loaded the bases with no outs for lefty-hitter Alex Miller. An RBI single to the left side gave Township a 1-0 lead and Carrasco quickly scampered home on a wild pitch during the very next AB to make it 2-0. A bases-clearing double from Keaton Musser doubled up the score before Alex Derderian and Lincoln Stoltzfus both reached base safely to reload the bases for Connor Delvecchio. Delvecchio grounded into a fielder’s choice where both Musser and Derderian scored and Leed cleaned up in his second AB of the inning with a triple that locked in a 7-0 MT lead through one inning.

Warwick managed to scratch across their lone run on the afternoon in the 2nd inning with Johnsen picking up the RBI. Leed escaped the inning by collecting two more of his nine total strikeouts with a pair of Warriors still on base. The runs kept coming for Township in the bottom of the 2nd and 3rd innings. Jack Kenneff drove in Billiard in the 2nd to make it 8-1 and both Delvecchio and Leed scored on another Warriors’ infield error in the 3rd to make it 10-1 through 3.

Stoltzfus nabbed his team-leading third double of the season in the bottom of the 4th before scoring on a fielder’s choice to give Township their 12th and final run on the afternoon. Leed capped off his day by striking out the side in the top of the 5th to seal the shortened 11-run victory against Warwick, 12-1.

Back to .500 after back-to-back wins, the Blue Streaks will remain at home on Friday afternoon as Donegal comes to town for a rematch of the opening round of the League Playoffs last season. First pitch at 4:15 PM.
