After a strikeout for leadoff batter Braden Leed in the top of the 1st, the Blue Streaks found early runs courtesy of some small ball and walks in the first frame. A 1-out bloop single for Jacob Carrasco kicked off a string of success for Township at the plate. Angelo Billiard reached on an error and Alex Miller loaded the bases with a walk. An RBI single from Jack Kenneff gave MT a 1-0 lead before the team added three more runs on 2-out bases-loaded walks to Alex Derderian, Connor Delvecchio, and Leed. An RBI single for Lincoln Stoltzfus also factored into the early 5-0 Township lead.

Stoltzfus, making his first Varsity start for the Blue Streaks, recovered quickly after giving up a leadoff single to Warwick’s Johnsen in the bottom of the 1st using a fly out and 6-4-3 double play to escape his first inning after only three batters.

Township sparked another explosion of 2-out runs in the top of the 2nd. Billiard reached base safely on a single and Kenneff on an error before a Derderian RBI single made it 6-0. An infield error made it 7-0 and a Leed poke into right quickly field made it 9-0. The inning was capped off with a 3-run bases-clearing single for Billiard combined with an error on the Warriors’ outfield to send Stoltzfus back to the mound with a commanding 12-0 lead.

Warwick collected a pair of runs off Township’s young righty in the bottom of the 2nd after a leadoff double for Mumma got things going for the home team. Stoltzfus remained in the game through 2 1/3 innings before handing the ball over to Nolan Peters in relief. Peters collected the third out of the bottom of the 3rd with the bases loaded to keep the game at 12-2 MT.

Miller tallied an RBI for himself in the top of the 4th by driving home Delvecchio and the Blue Streaks carried a 14-2 lead into the home half of the 4th after Billiard scored on an error. Peters would go on to give up an extra run to the Warriors in the bottom of the 5th before Kenneff made his first appearance on the mound in the bottom of the 5th. Just as the 1st inning ended, the Blue Streaks wrapped up the 5-inning game with a double play from Delvecchio to Miller. 14-3 MT.

The win pushes Township’s winning streak to four games as their biggest test of the season arrives tomorrow afternoon. Undefeated Hempfield will visit Westfield Insurance Park with a first pitch scheduled for 4:15 PM.
