Runs Hard To Come By In Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks Win Versus Hempfield Varsity Black Knights

Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks defeated Hempfield Varsity Black Knights 3-2. Tyler Shirk started the game for Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks and recorded 20 outs.

Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks didn’t take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Jack Kenneff tripled, scoring one run.

Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks opened the scoring in the second after Brett Kirchoff hit into a double play, but one run scored.

A single by Kenneff extended the Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks lead to 2-0 in the top of the third inning.

Camden Hulock tripled to center field, which helped Hempfield Varsity Black Knights tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.

Shirk earned the win for Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks. The pitcher allowed five hits and two runs (zero earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Jaxsen Hulock took the loss for Hempfield Varsity Black Knights. The reliever went two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out three and walking one. Alex Wimmer started the game for Hempfield Varsity Black Knights. The southpaw allowed six hits and two runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three. Kenneff collected the save.

Kenneff drove the middle of the lineup, leading Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Jacob Carrasco and Kenneff each collected two hits for Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks.

Hulock drove the middle of the lineup, leading Hempfield Varsity Black Knights with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Logan Dougherty, Derek Katch, Hulock, Brayden Gebhard, and Braedon Eck each collected one hit for Hempfield Varsity Black Knights. Hempfield Varsity Black Knights turned two double plays in the game.
