Recap
With just one regular season game left on the schedule for the Manheim Township Blue Streaks, they hosted the Cocalico Eagles under the lights of Westfield Insurance Park on Tuesday evening. The 2024 MT seniors also honored their favorite Township educators pregame as part of the team’s annual Teacher Appreciation Day.
Alex Miller got the start again for the Blue Streaks after making his first start of 2024 against Ephrata last Saturday. Miller worked a 1-2-3 top of the 1st to get things started before
Ben Connors took the first pitch in the bottom of the 1st off his back. The Blue Streaks were held scoreless in the first inning however. Another HBP, this time to
Angelo Billiard, and a walk for
Trey Eckman gave Township a pair of baserunners in the 2nd, but still the Blue Streaks could not break through to take a lead.
The Eagles picked up three hits over the third and fourth innings, but Miller clung to the 0-0 score waiting for Township’s offense to make something happen. The scoreless game carried into the bottom of the 5th where Township ended the regular season in style.
The Blue Streaks sent 14 men to the plate in the inning – 11 of whom batted before an out was recorded. Hits for
Ryan Turner,
Connor Delvecchio,
Christian Kleckner,
Jacob Carrasco, Eckman, and
Traeton Sauder all came in the inning where the Blue Streaks plated 10 and sealed the five inning game all the way from a 0-0 tie. Miller picked up the win, his first of the year, and the Blue Streaks closed the regular season with a 14-6 record.
