Recap
On an April afternoon where snow flurries created challenging playing conditions, Manheim Township JV was able to grasp a 14-9 win in a shortened 5-inning matchup at J.P. McCaskey JV. This particular game featured 21 total walks (!!!), two 8-run half innings, and 23 runs between the two teams! McCaskey was able to take a 1-0 lead in the 1st off a Township fielding error. The Blue Streaks responded in the 2nd with 8 runs to jump out to an 8-1 lead. McCaskey was able to catch back up with an 8-run bottom of the 2nd to take a 9-8 lead into the 3rd.
Three runs in the top of the 3rd and 5th innings was enough for Township to secure the 14-9 victory. With only 4 hits on the day, Manheim Township did a lot of their damage on the base paths with walks. The team combined for 14 walks to bring those 14 runs across the plate. Sam Emge, Evan Clark, Dylan King, and Drew Sassaman were the only Blue Streaks to pick up a hit in this game.
The wintry conditions made for tough pitching outings for both teams. Jake Schaefer got another start for the JV Streaks and combined with Clark for the team win in 5 innings. Multiple errors on both teams also contributed to the mayhem.
