Coming into this game, Manheim Township JV had already defeated Penn Manor JV 13-12 in their first meeting of the season when the two teams matched up at MT on April 5th. The Blue Streaks were determined to win again, this time at Penn Manor’s Comet Field complex.

The Blue Streaks got on the board early in the 1st inning thanks to an error on the Comets’ defense. Jake Schaefer had a 1-0 lead to work with when he took the hill for the Blue Streaks in his 6th appearance of the season. He lasted 5 innings, allowing only 5 hits and 2 runs while striking out 6 Penn Manor batters.
Township’s offense scored 2 runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings to hold a 7-1 lead near the end of Schaefer’s day. Ryan Jones relieved Schaefer on the mound in the 6th inning and surrendered only 2 more Penn Manor runs while striking out 3 batters in the final two innings. Collin Arms and Schaefer each snagged 2 hits in their 3 ABs on the afternoon and Sam Emge had his 2nd consecutive game with a homerun that drove in 2 runs. Dylan King [2], Josh Emge, Evan Clark, and Kyle Donton each added RBIs to Township’s totals by the end of this game.
Township ran wild on the base paths and managed to steal 7 bases against Penn Manor, including Donton who had 3 by himself. For the 2nd consecutive game, Township’s defense excelled and did not produce an error over the 7 innings of this contest. With the 8-4 win, Township JV is now 6-1 against Section 1 opponents this season and holds a 9-4 overall record.
