JV: Streaks fall to Hempfield after back-and-forth afternoon 10-5
The JV Blue Streaks visited the Hempfield Black Knights JV team on Tuesday afternoon to make up a game that was cancelled earlier last week. Coming off a 14-9 win on Monday to improve to 3-1 on the season, Township JV couldn’t keep up the run production in this outing. Hempfield got on the board first in the 1st inning to take a 1-0 lead. Township was able to respond with a run in the top of the 3rd to tie the game at 1-1. Hempfield regained the lead with a 3-run bottom of the 3rd to take a 4-1 lead. Dylan King got the start for the JV Blue Streaks and was relieved on the mound by Ryan Jones and Caden Brubaker after 2.2 IP.

Over the next 3 innings, Township picked up 4 more runs but couldn’t catch Hempfield after they put up a 6-spot in the bottom of the 5th. Of Township’s 5 runs on the afternoon, Sam Emge and Jones were responsible for 4 of them as both players had 2 RBI. Both of Emge’s hits in this game were doubles that brings him to 5 doubles on the season. Collin Arms had Township’s biggest hit of the day with a triple that lead to one of the team’s runs. The Blue Streaks are now 3-2 in 2018 and look to get things back on track with two more games this week.
