The Streaks came out swinging against the JV Mountaineers and struck early in the 2nd inning when Colin Fitzgerald led off with a double and was followed by a Collin Arms walk and Josh Emge single to load the bases. Dylan King brought home the first Township run of the afternoon on a SAC fly to center field. Taking a 1-0 lead into the 4th inning, Township was set up to strike again thanks to a Fitzgerald walk, J. Emge single, and Connor Vucovich walk to load the bases. Drew Sassaman stepped up and lined a single to center field to bring home courtesy runner Jake Schaefer and J. Emge to extend Township's lead to 3-0. A bases loaded walk for King in the 5th gave Township a 4-0 lead.

While the JV Streaks' offense was putting up runs, pitcher Luke Wenger was shutting down Ephrata inning after inning. Wenger kept the JV Mountaineers quiet until the bottom of the 5th inning where they struck for 1 run on a SAC fly to Donton in center field to lessen Township's lead to 4-1. After a Sassaman single to lead off the top of the 6th, Donton hit a high fly ball that hooked towards the foul pole in left field but cleared the fence prior to going foul for a 2-run homerun. JV's first HR of the season gave the Blue Streaks a 6-1 lead that was extended again before the 6th inning was over. MT took an 8-1 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning where Wenger was looking for a complete game on the mound.

Ephrata tacked on 2 early runs in the inning off consecutive singles that ended Wenger's day on the mound. Schaefer came in to close this game out for the Blue Streaks. Ephrata was retired after picking up 2 more runs to end this game at 8-5. The game was ended after 6 innings due to time constraints with the late game in the doubleheader. With the win, Township JV is now 5-2 on the season and they look to continue their hot hitting streak in the coming weeks.

Next Game: Elizabethtown JV will come to visit Township on Monday (4/16) for another non-section matchup at 4:15pm.
