JV: Township puts a hurting on Hempfield JV in 13-0 blowout

JV returned to action on Monday afternoon after dropping back-to-back games for the first time this season and they made certain that they were not going to lose a third in a row. Connor Vucovich took the mound for the JV Blue Streaks and kept Hempfield’s bats quiet all afternoon – allowing only 2 hits through the 5 inning game.

Township’s offense was anything but quiet in this game as Sam Emge continued his hot hitting with a homerun (1st of the season) in the bottom of the 1st that scored 2 runs for the Streaks. After a 4-run 1st inning, JV followed up with a 5-run 2nd inning that was propelled by a Kyle Musser triple, Luke Wenger single, SAC fly by Evan Clark, and ball put in play by Ryan Jones. Township tacked on 4 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd to force this game to end after 5 innings (10-run rule). Collin Arms also contributed 2 RBI and double in this game for Township.

Manheim Township’s defense was error-free all afternoon for the first time this season and the win brings Township JV’s record to 8-4.

Next Game: Township JV will travel with Varsity to visit Penn Manor in a set of makeup games on Tuesday (5/1) afternoon. Game time 4:15pm.
