King tosses JV’s 2nd no-no as team beats Ephrata 10-0 at home

After a rocky outing against Manheim Central last weekend, Dylan King was looking to bounce back with a solid showing on the mound on Tuesday against the visiting Ephrata Mountaineers. After starting the 1st inning with a hit batter and two walks, King settled down and retired the remaining Ephrata batters to keep the Mounts at bay.

King received help from the Blue Streaks offense in the bottom of the 1st. After reaching base on an error, Michael Heckman scored two batters later on a wild pitch. King singled and Jesus Perez scored after a single from Fisher Druck dropped in center field. The 2 early runs would hold up in this one as King held strong on the mound.

Other than surrendering two more walks in the 2nd inning, King shut down Ephrata and did not allow a hit over the shortened 5-inning game. Ephrata went down 1-2-3 in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings while Township poured on the runs. The 2-0 lead expanded in the bottom of the 2nd after JT Weaver singled, Caden Brubaker doubled, Heckman walked, and Ryan Flury doubled to clear the bases. Leading 5-0, Evan Clark singled to bring home Jack Armstrong, courtesy running for Flury, and made it 6-0 Township. Two more singles scored Clark and Druck before Heckman, batting for the 2nd time in the inning, walked with the bases loaded to give Township a 9-0 lead after 2 innings.

Flury and King ended the game in the bottom of the 5th after a lead off double allowed Flury to score on a ground ball from King. With the 10-0 victory, MT JV is now 9-1 at the halfway point of the 2019 season.
