Junior Varsity bats heat up late as team grabs 18 hits in 18-4 win over Solanco JV

Coming off of a stellar pitching outing against Lampeter-Strasburg on Monday afternoon, the JV Blue Streaks were looking for another strong team performance on the road against the Solanco JV team. Township's offense got off to a quick start after Michael Heckman led off the 1st with a bunt single and Fisher Druck drove him around the bases to put a run on the board for MT early.

With a 1-0 lead, Dylan King took the mound after tossing a no-hitter last week against Ephrata. After keeping Solanco quiet in the 1st inning, the Golden Mules picked up a tying run on a bases-loaded passed ball in the bottom of the 2nd. Township's offense went silent in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings as Solanco tacked on 3 more runs in the bottom of the 4th. A combination of hits and walks allowed Solanco to chase King from the game while taking a 4-1 lead into the 5th.

King got his revenge as he led off for the Blue Streaks in the top of the 5th and doubled to left field to get the offense rolling again. Ryan Flury, currently JV's top hitter, bombed his first homerun of the season to quickly make it a 4-3 game. The barrage of offense continued as Ben Shenosky, JT Weaver, and Jesus Perez each picked up a hit to give Township a 5-4 lead. Still with only one out, Caden Brubaker walked, Heckman walked, and Druck singled to expand the lead 7-4. King got his 2nd AB of the inning and singled to load the bases for the Blue Streaks before Flury walked in another run. The scoring didn't stop as Max Proulx singled and drove home 2 more runners. Leading 10-4, Shenosky walked and Perez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in the final run of the inning.

Relief pitcher Heckman now held an 11-4 lead as he worked a quick bottom of the 5th against the Golden Mules. The JV offense was nowhere near finished as we entered the top of the 6th inning. After reaching base on a lead off error, Heckman scored on the next at bat as Druck tripled to left field. Township scored a run on 4 consecutive batters as King walked, Flury doubled, and Proulx singled to open this game up 15-4. Township would score 3 more runs in the inning on a couple singles to run the score to 18-4. Heckman set down Solanco 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 6th to end this one.

JV is now 12-2 on the season and will play Warwick JV again at home on Wednesday afternoon. 4:15pm start time.
