Recap
Taking the mound for the first time in his high school career, Fisher Druck came two outs away from completing a no-hitter on Saturday at home against Exeter. The freshman newcomer put together 6 full innings of no-hit baseball against an Exeter JV team that was stifled all afternoon. Druck sat Exeter batters down one-by-one until they finally put a man on base in the top of the 4th on a HBP. 2 more HBP allowed Exeter a single runner on base in the 5th and 6th innings, but the no-hitter remained intact.
While the no-hitter was happening on the mound, Township was working to bring runs across the plate on offense. In the 2nd inning, Druck and Ben Shenosky reached base on errors before Max Proulx singled to bring Druck around to home. Already up 1-0, Jesus Perez singled to score Shenosky to expand Township’s lead to 2-0. Dylan King crossed the plate in the 3rd inning to expand the lead to 3 runs.
The Blue Streaks struck once more in the bottom of the 5th after Druck, Shenosky, and Proulx loaded the bases for Perez to pick up an RBI on a HBP. Druck took the mound again in the top of the 7th looking to close out the no-hitter. With 1 out on the board, Exeter finally broke through with a single to end the no-hit bid. After surrendering two late runs to the Eagles, JT Weaver was brought in to record the final out and save after a great effort by Druck over 6 2/3 innings.
With the win, JV is now 3-0 on the season.
