Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks defeated Manheim Central Varsity Barons 2-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Jack Kenneff and Tyler Shirk each pitched for Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks in the game. Kenneff induced a pop out from Clint Groff to get the last out.
Both teams were strong on the mound. Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks pitchers struck out 10, while Manheim Central Varsity Barons sat down two.
Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lincoln Stoltzfus hit a sacrifice fly, and Rocco Billiard tripled to center field, each scoring one run.
Shirk earned the win for Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks. The right-handed pitcher allowed three hits and zero runs over five and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking two. Tanner Travitz took the loss for Manheim Central Varsity Barons. The righty went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one. Kenneff collected the save.
Alex Derderian and Kenneff were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks while hitting back-to-back. Stoltzfus and Billiard were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Manheim Township Varsity Blue Streaks.
Cody Hess, Chase Book, Tyler Grimm, and Groff each collected one hit for Manheim Central Varsity Barons. Manheim Central Varsity Barons turned one double play in the game.
